A rare Italdesign Aztec designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro is for sale on eBay with a "buy it now" price of $750,000.

Originally introduced as a concept at the 1988 Turin Motor Show, the Italdesign Aztec evolved into a limited production version and at least 25 cars were built, although the plan was to make 50 units. The most striking feature is the split passenger compartment and on the right side there’s even a steering wheel-like control console.

Just as interesting are the external control panels where the user can enter codes which are printed on the body to obtain information about brake fluid, engine oil level, coolant and there's also a removable temperature gauge. On the right side there is a hydraulic jack together with a 12V power point while on the left-hand side the Aztec comes with an electric torch, compressor for inflating tire, fire extinguisher and a removable electric screwdriver

Power comes from a modified 250 bhp Audi Quattro-sourced five-cylinder turbocharged sending power through a five-speed manual gearbox to an all-wheel drive system borrowed from the Lancia Delta Integrale. This particular car is actually the first production unit and the first owner paid $2.2 million for the car which features Giorgetto Gigugiaro's signature on the right quarter panel. It appears to be in a very good condition and was driven for only 800 miles (1,288 km) and most of the mileage was done travelling to parades, shows and museums. When not used, the car sat in an air-conditioned warehouse in Japan where it’s currently located.

Featuring all original parts, the Italdesign Aztec has a "buy it now" price of $750,000 but you might be able to get it for less as the bidding starts at $500,000 and will end later today.

As a final note, the Italdesign Aztec was used as the safety car during the 1991 Monaco Grand Prix.
