Nissan Pulsar shows its C-segment credentials in Paris, 190 PS version detailed

Nissan is back in Europe's highly competitive C-segment with the new Pulsar currently being showcased at the Paris Motor Show.

In a sector dominated by the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus, Nissan wants a piece of the pie with the Euro-spec Pulsar scheduled to go on sale this fall. The Japanese marque is trying to entice potential buyers with a 2700mm wheelbase granting a best-in-class rear legroom & shoulder room. Also inside the cabin there's a standard five-inch display but upper-spec models get a bigger seven-inch NissanConnect 2 infotainment system.

As far as engines are concerned, the Pulsar can be had on the old continent with a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine outputting 115 PS & 190 Nm or with a more economical 1.5 dCi rated at 110 PS & 260 Nm, with both of them coupled to a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional CVT.

Starting spring 2015, Nissan will offer a hotter version equipped with a beefier 1.6-liter turbo engine with 190 HP & 240 Nm that will come along with a slightly different exterior and minor cabin tweaks. Performance figures have not been released but Nissan says the Pulsar 190 PS 1.6 DIG-T will have a fuel consumption of 6 liters / 100 km and CO2 emissions of 138 g/km.

Depending on selected trim, the Nissan Pulsar can come with automatic headlights and wipers, AC, steering-wheel mounted controls, LED headlights and privacy glass. Safety and assistance systems include lane departure warning, moving object detection, blind spot warning, forward emergency braking and others as well.

Prices for the Nissan Pulsar sold in United Kingdom start at £15,995 for the base Visia model and go all the way up to £20,345 for the range-topping Tekna variant.

Check out the attached press release to find out more about the 190 HP variant.
