BMW M5 30 Jahre M5 special edition in on-board 0-300 km/h sprint [video]

French magazine Option Auto conducted a 0-300 km/h sprint in the BMW M5 30 Jahre M5 special edition.
The meanest M5 of them all is a limited-run edition launched to celebrate the M5's 30th anniversary and was produced in only 300 examples painted in Frozen Dark Silver with dark chrome accents. All come as standard with the Competition Package and this particular car also has the optional M Driver's Package lifting the electronic top speed limiter from 155 mph (250 km/h) to 190 mph (305 km/h).
BMW's engineers managed to squeeze an extra 40 HP (29 kW) and 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) from the twin-turbo V8 4.4-liter engine, thus increasing output to an impressive 600 HP (441 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). Equipped with the seven-speed dual-clutch DCT gearbox, the M5 30 Jahre M5 sprints to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, an amazing figure taking into account the high-powered sedan weighs 1,870 kg (4,123 lbs).
While the current M5 is available exclusively with a rear-wheel drive layout, its successor is rumored to get an optional AWD arrangement while power will be increased to around 626 HP (460 kW).
