Automotive News is reporting the 2016MY Dodge Viper is set to gain more power and a convertible variant.
The Viper came back to the Dodge nameplate for the 2015 model year which brought along a minor 5 bhp bump to 645 bhp (481 kW). Now, a new report indicates the V10 8.4-liter engine will be updated in mid-2015, indicating the revisions will likely be implemented in the 2016 model year which will also bring a torque increase from the current 600 lb-ft (812 Nm).
If we were to rely on a report which emerged about three weeks ago, the aging and thirsty ten-cylinder will receive a supercharger which is estimated to lift output to around 800 bhp (596 kW).
The 2016 model year will also mark the introduction of a convertible body style and chances are will look a lot like this Prefix Medusa, an open-top conversion for the SRT Viper available for 35,000 USD in a limited series of ten units.
