Galpin Auto Sports has unveiled their new GTR1 prototype at Pebble Beach.
Described as "a vision of what the Ford GT may have looked and performed like today," the GTR1 is based on the aforementioned model and features a handcrafted aluminum body that was created by Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters of Fountain Valley, California. While the car's styling won't win everyone over it features LED-infused headlights, a carbon fiber front lip spoiler and 20-inch aluminum wheels with Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires.
The cabin largely carries over from the Ford GT but it has been equipped with premium leather upholstery, a McIntosh audio system and a machined aluminum instrument cluster.
Power is provided by a twin-turbo 5.4-liter V8 engine that develops 1024 bhp (763 kW) and 739 lb-ft (1000 Nm) of torque. The company estimates this will enable the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately three seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 225 mph (362 km/h).
Production will be "extremely limited" as Galpin only plans to build between 6 and 24 GTR1s. The company is currently accepting orders and pricing will exceed $1 million (€749,850 / £639,345).
