The Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 tested by Jay Leno

The Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 isn't scheduled to go on sale until next spring but that hasn't stopped Jay Leno from getting an early drive.
Described as the "most track-capable" Camaro in the company's history, the Z/28 has an aerodynamic body kit with a front splitter, extended side skirts and widened wheel arches. The car also has a rear diffuser, underbody paneling, a rear spoiler and 19-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires.
Motivation is provided by a 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine that develops "at least" 500 bhp (373 kW) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque. Chevrolet hasn't released detailed performance specifications but the Z/28 weighs 100 lbs (45 kg) less than the Camaro SS and is available exclusively with six-speed manual transmission.
Interestingly, Leno revealed the car will cost more than the Camaro ZL1 which starts at $54,350 (excluding a $900 destination charge and a $1,300 gas guzzler tax). The talk show host also noted the company will only build about 1500 Z/28's annually.
