Fiat 500X compact crossover finally goes official in Paris

The Fiat 500X has made its official world premiere at the Paris Motor Show.

The compact crossover becomes the sixth member of the 500 family that already comprises the 500, 500C, 500L, 500L Trekking and 500L Living models, which are “very different in terms of vocation and character, but have the same roots in common: the iconic Fiat 500”.

The model will be produced in the updated SATA plant in Melfi, Italy, and sold in more than 100 countries worldwide. It will be available in two different versions - “one is more “metropolitan” and the other is ideal for leisure”, according to the Italian company.

At launch, the engine line-up of the 500X will feature the petrol 140 HP (104 kW) 1.4 Turbo MultiAir II with a front-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual gearbox, the 120 HP (90kW) 1.6 MultiJet II in the same version and the 140 HP (104 kW) 2.0 MultiJet II with the company’s new 9-speed automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive. The range will later be completed by a 110 HP (82 kW) 1.6 E-torQ with a 5-speed manual and FWD, a 170 HP (127 kW) 1.4 Turbo MultiAir II with a 9-speed automatic and a AWD and surprisingly with a 184 HP (137 kW) Tigershark 2.4-liter unit.

On the diesel side, available will be the 95 HP (70 kW) 1.3 MultiJet II and the 140 HP (104 kW) 2.0 MultiJet II, working with 5- or 6-speed manual transmissions and an all-wheel drive.
