Next-generation Nissan GT-R confirmed for 2016
Do you like this story?
The Nissan GT-R has received a number of annual updates but there's no hiding the fact that the model was launched nearly six years ago. Thankfully there's a successor on the horizon and a new report is indicating it has been confirmed for 2016.
During the Nissan 360 press conference, an unnamed Nissan representative reportedly told Motor Trend the next-generation model would arrive in three years. The source declined to give details but the magazine expects the car will debut "well before the end of 2015."
Little is known about the new GT-R but Nissan recently filed a trademark for the "R-Hybrid" moniker which suggests it could use a hybrid system. Nothing is official but previous reports have indicated the car could have a stop/start system, cylinder deactivation technology and hybrid powertrain that is similar to the one used in the Infiniti M35h and Infiniti Essence concept.
