Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT could be renamed the Trackhawk
Do you like this story?
Jeep introduced the 2015 Grand Cherokee SRT earlier this month but a new report is indicating the model could eventually be called the "Trackhawk."
Nothing is official but Chrysler recently filed a trademark application for the Trackhawk name in July. The filing states the moniker would be used on "motor vehicles, namely, passenger automobiles, their structural parts, trim and badges."
The name seems to be a variation of the Trailhawk moniker that is used on the Cherokee and Renegade. The Trailhawk variants are off-road focused models, while the Trackhawk variant(s) would presumably focus on performance. This doesn't necessarily mean the Trackhawk name will replace the SRT badging but it could since SRT was recently folded back into Dodge.
